Sunset at Squirrel Point
I love lighthouses. Especially this quaint little fellow here, the Squirrel Point Light in Arrowsic, Maine. It took me 30 minutes to race from work, park the car, and jog the long trail out to this here Friday night. The light promised to be fantastic if the sun just peeked through the clouds, and that it did, for a brief moment.
I knew I couldn't capture the full range of light in the sunset, the lighthouse, and the beautiful staghorn sumac in the foreground without braketing exposures. That's what I did here, and since I still don't own Photoshop, I combined the 3 exposures using Nik's HDR Efex Pro 2. That plus a few tweaks in Lightroom created the finished product you see here.
