Marshall Point Sunset
The Marshall Point Lighthouse in Port Clyde, Maine, sits on one of the most beautiful ocean outlooks in the state. Every time I visit, I'm blown away by the scenery and inspirational quality of this iconic location. This lighthouse achieved nationwide attention in the movie "Forrest Gump", when the main character runs to the 'end of the road', which is portrayed as this exact spot. Pretty neat.
This particular evening was one of the most spectacular light shows I've seen. This is a prime example of following the weather. By watching the satellite, I could see that a bank of low clouds was perfectly positioned over this region, with a window of clear sky to the west that would allow the sun to sink beneath it and underlight the clouds. I drove the hour and a half in giddy anticipation. I wasn't disappointed.
