A morning to remember.
The temptation was to shoot directly into this vibrant sunrise. The horizon on the left side of this frame was absolutely on fire with color and drama. After a few frames shooting with the lighthouse juxtaposed against the bright sky, I could see that wasn't going to work. The lighthouse was cast in dark shadow and the foreground was simply footprints and a large snowbank. By moving down to the left, I was able to find a better foreground, composition, and still had beautiful side-light and a colorful sky. It may not have been as dramatic as the backlit tower, but I think this angle wins for serene winter beauty.
