I got out early, 4:00 AM this morning with the idea of capturing street scenes in Portland without having to dodge traffic. Usually Congress Street is jammed with cars and pedestrians, but as you can see, it's very quiet this time of day. There's a lot going on here, I know, but what you see is what you get, a very colorful and exciting atmosphere. The lighted metal sculptures you see hanging are by Pandora LaCasse. The colorful sculpture you see on the right, the metal poles capped with whimsical shapes, is a new installation by Charlie Hewitt called 'Portland Rattles'. Congress Street is a busy place, the urban heart of the city.
