Sunset on the Beach

Watching the sun set straight into the ocean is a rare pleasure on the Coast of Maine, with its mostly east-facing shoreline. How can one find such a rare sight? Well, I like to visit Head Beach in Phippsburg, and only this time of year, because of the southerly angle of the sun in late fall and winter. I arrived right on time for this one yesterday, and didn't have to think to hard about where to look for a cool photo. I knew I wanted to capture one of the paths down to the beach and use that as a foreground leading line, and that's just what I did. The waving tufts of beach grass framing the path are my favorite part of this image, along with the glow of sunlight on the sand. Some reflective wet sand in the background also created a reflection of the sun that makes it look like there are two suns setting. I am so lucky to live in Maine!
