Like the dark side of the moon, not too many folks get the chance to see the 'other' side of the Nubble off Cape Neddick. Boaters surely know the pleasure, but all of the land-based perspectives have a very limited angle of view. The Nubble we all know and love takes on a much more rugged appearance on the eastern, or seaward side of the small island. Sheer cliffs drop straight down from the base of the lighthouse to the sea, and exposure to the full brunt of the elements keeps them clear of any vegetation. I knew I wanted to get this perspective this morning, and the clouds couldn't have been much better, as sweeping cirrus provided a nice lead-in to the lighthouse. The early dawn light was extremely clear and bright, and the golden hue warmed the already tan granite with beautiful tones. I've never been super happy with many of my captures from here, but thanks to this unique perspective and some beautiful light, I think this could be a keeper.
