While on my way to Wolfe's Neck, I passed this mysterious scene that always catches my eye off of Bunganuc Road in Brunswick. There is a small path down here that clammers use to get access to the rich mudflats of Maquoit Bay. To the right of the path is a large cascade and over slabs of granite, the head of tide of Bunganuc Stream. That's where I was standing to get this photo. You can barely see it here, but there is a mysterious old dwelling built on stilts that sits just above the high tide line in the cove. If you peer inside the windows, you can see a lot of decorations, books, papers, furniture, and the like, suggesting that it was abandoned suddenly, and not too long ago.
