Roots and Tree

As soon as I saw this tree growing on the side of a rock face, I knew I had to capture it. It was one of the most fascinating and wonderful things I've seen. There's a little bit of irony that I captured this with glorious fall foliage, but chose a black and white interpretation. The black and white simplifed the image and made it about the roots and the tree, not the colorful crown. I'm really happy to have found this.
