Two of the most spectacular moments of my photography career happened within a short time of each other day before yesterday. After waking up at 4 AM, we got on the Saddle Trail to climb Katahdin. The trees were loaded with fresh snow from the night before, and everything was serenely beautiful. We couldn't see too much on the trail until we started seeing the moon filtered through low clouds. When we came to this clearing, our jaws dropped. The moon was setting right behind the ridgeline and illuminating the trees around us along with the mist. The person in front of me had a headlamp on and shone it up towards the moon. You can just make out the features of the ridge at the top of the frame. I'm very grateful to have witnessed this.
