This was one of those times where I just didn’t want to leave. My friend Chris and I had come to Popham to photograph sunset, and although that was indeed spectacular, the twilight was even more compelling. I was wandering by the water out near Fox Island when I noticed the tide was perfect for capturing these rocks in the sand. The scene reminded me of something you’d see on the west coast. A setting crescent moon provided the perfect compliment to the rocks and even the clouds formed leading lines. I walked around until I had the composition I wanted, and chose a long shutter speed to smooth out the surf and add to the tranquility.
