Landscape photographers borrow heavily from the long tradition of landscape painting. Artists like Albert Bierstadt, Frederic Edwin Church, and Winslow Homer were successfully defining the visual poetry of nature just as the camera was coming into existence.

There is a long-standing debate among photographers, how much editing is too much? We must recognize that this debate has played out for centuries among all artists and admirers. Tastes differ between individuals, artistic movements, and the changing times.
