In My Element

There are moments in life where you feel deeply connected, moments where you feel like you are exactly where you are supposed to be. This was one of those moments for me. I knew I loved hiking before, but I had never done much in the winter. Well, that was a huge mistake! Oh, how happy I am to have discovered how amazingly beautiful winter hiking can be. My friend Craig and I had talked about doing this hike for a few years, and the conditions finally lined up yesterday morning. We started on the trailhead at 5:20 AM, still dark, and walked through the moonlit woods up the side of Old Speck. We were both commenting on how beautiful the woods were. When we got to the Eyebrow and the sunrise started to get going, we were both absolutely giddy. Every moment brought new revelations of light dancing across the valley floor, through the trees and against the craggy peak of Table Rock. What wonder! I'm so happy I can share this moment with you. I hope you can view this on a big screen, because I want you to feel like you are there with me.
